About the event


Yeonmi Park is a North Korean defector, author, and human rights activist. On November 20, 2025, she is coming to Texas A&M University to give a free lecture on fighting socialism and freeing the oppressed, at an event hosted by TAMU Young Americans for Freedom.

Yeonmi Park grew up in Hyesan, North Korea, under the horrors of extreme poverty and tyrannical state control. Despite her upbringing in a punishing society devoted to the worship of Kim Jong-Il, pirated American movies gave Park a glimpse of the free world. In 2007, years after her father was arrested and sent to a prison camp, Park and her mother made a daring escape…
