What is YAF?

YAF stands for Young Americans for Freedom. Universities across the United States have chapters on their campuses that exist to promote principles of moral liberty, personal responsibility, and economic self-determination. A national group by the name of Young America's Foundation is the parent organization for these chapters and provide us with resources and fantastic speakers including Vice President Mike Pence, Ben Shapiro and other commentators from the Daily Wire, and many other prominent conservatives. Learn more about YAF at www.yaf.org.

While this is a group for conservative students, our members do have a wide variety of views on different issues and we welcome respectful discussion.

Why should I join?
  • Make lifelong conservative friends

  • Hear from and meet really cool speakers!

  • Be part of one of the most redass orgs on campus (if we do say so ourselves)

  • Discussions with like-minded students about a variety of topics

  • Service and social opportunities

  • Attend summer and winter conferences

  • Free stuff

  • The Meme Chat

  • & so much more!

Do I have to be a member to participate?

Yes & no. Any student is welcome to attend our bi-weekly meetings and many of our socials, and speaker events are open to the public. Only members are able to meet the speakers, attend certain socials and trips, volunteer, and be added to the member only GroupMe.

How do I join? How much does it cost?

Students can join by attending one of our regular meetings. Talk to our treasurer, Lemon, or another officer to pay your dues. Dues are $25 cash for the whole year and include a t-shirt!

Email us at tamuyaf@gmail.com if you'd like to join but can't make the meetings.

When are your meetings?

We meet biweekly on Thursdays at 5:30 pm in Rudder Tower, room 410. Feel free to join us any point in the semester; we do not have a strict "recruiting season."

I'm in the Corps of Cadets - do I have to wear my uniform?

This varies by outfit, but generally, yes, even though this is a "political organization," you will have to wear your uniform to our biweekly member meetings in Rudder Tower. For our larger speaker events, it depends on the event. Check with your outfit for their specific rules and preferences.

How can I be more involved?
  • Carson: Meet as many people as you can and surround yourself with the best you can find.

  • Lauren: Go to as many socials and events as you can. Eventually everyone in the org will become more than just other members but close friends who you hang out with outside of the org. Everything is what you make it, so have as much fun as you can and step outside of your comfort zone.

  • Kyla: Sign up for the email! It will have some of the most up-to-date information about when socials, meetings, and other events are.

  • Preston: Come to the socials, debate, and talk with us. We don’t bite.

  • Reagan: Start tabling! It might be intimidating at first, but it gets easier. It’s a great way to understand the campus dynamic and to help out at events.

When are the socials?

Details about socials, volunteering, and other events will be posted on our social media and sent in the weekly email and on GroupMe. We aim to have socials most of the weeks that we do not have meetings, but this varies.

Our past socials have included movie nights, dancing at Harry's, Aggie sporting events, tailgating, holiday and pool parties, guys & girls nights, and much more.
